How It Works

  1. Type a Mii name and choose the region it came from. The engine normalises the input โ€” case, accents and parenthetical romanisation are all ignored โ€” then looks it up in that region's index.
  2. When a match is found, the engine identifies the cultural role the name fills (strong, bright, peaceful, blossom...) and returns the name that fills the same role in each of the other four regions.
  3. If the name is not found in the chosen region, the engine searches every other region and shows you where it does appear, so a name of unknown origin can still be traced.
  4. Use the Name Generator when you are naming a Mii from scratch. It draws distinct names from one region's pool so the result feels native to that region.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the translator know which names correspond to each other?

Names are grouped by cultural role rather than by sound. A Japanese name meaning bright sits in the same group as the most popular bright-meaning name in North America, Europe, Korea and China, so the mapping reflects function, not phonetics.

Why does my name come back as not found?

The database covers the most common Mii name roles across the five regions, not every name that has ever appeared in the game. Try a romanised spelling (Minsu instead of ๋ฏผ์ˆ˜, Wei instead of ไผŸ), or check whether the name is listed under a different source region using the cross-region suggestions.

Are these official Nintendo name translations?

No. Tomodachi Life does not publish an official cross-region name table. Each regional version draws its own suggestion pool, and the groupings below are a fan-made community estimate. Treat the results as a creative guide, not a lookup.

Why do some regions share the same name in a group?

Some names, such as Luna, have become genuinely international and fill the same cultural role in several regions at once. The translator reports that overlap honestly rather than forcing a difference.

Model disclaimer

All name mappings on this page are fan-made community estimates, not official Nintendo data. Tomodachi Life does not publish a cross-region name table; use this translator for naming ideas only.
