How do apartments work in Tomodachi Life?

Each Mii resident gets their own apartment room in the main building. You can visit any resident's room and customize the furniture layout. Furniture items are purchased from the in-game shop using currency earned through resident interactions.

Can I customize apartment size in the game?

Apartment rooms start small and can be expanded by spending in-game currency. The number of furniture slots increases with room size. Use our 8×8 grid for small rooms, 10×10 for medium, and 12×12 for large rooms.

What furniture items are available in Tomodachi Life?

The game offers over 100 furniture items including beds, sofas, tables, lamps, plants, rugs, TVs, bookshelves, windows, and decorative items. New items unlock as your island population grows and as you complete certain milestones.

Does furniture placement affect gameplay?

Yes. Furniture placement influences your Mii's happiness. Miis enjoy well-organized rooms with their preferred furniture types. A Mii's personality type affects which furniture they prefer — outgoing types like social seating, while independent types favor bookshelves and plants.

Can I share my apartment designs with friends?

Tomodachi Life does not have a direct design sharing feature. However, you can use our Export PNG feature to save a screenshot and share it manually, or Export JSON to save the layout data and import it on another device.

How many furniture items can I place in one room?

The number of furniture slots depends on room size. Small rooms typically allow 8-12 items, medium rooms 12-20, and large rooms 20-30. Our designer tool lets you experiment without these limits for planning purposes.

Are the templates based on real game layouts?

The templates are inspired by common apartment design patterns that work well in Tomodachi Life. They are creative suggestions, not exact replicas of in-game preset rooms. Adapt them to your available furniture and room size.
